Before Seth Troxler,there was Stockhausen. Before Massive Attack there was Messiaen. And before the bassline drop, there were the originators designing the Moog. Alongside working on House productions, and playing fresh cuts from the Huxley’s and Joy Orbison’s of the world, I’m also heavily involved in Studio Composition and Audio Art, and looking at the origins of sound art and the technology that came with it.
If anyone has an interest in seeing an entire ensemble of vintage synthesisers perform live, live DJ sets, films and documentaries on the subject, or even learning how to make your own synth, the the Non-Classical ‘Pioneers of Electronic Music Festival’is providing a platform to share and appreciate the great experimenters who made Disco, Garage, New Jack, DnB, and any electronic music you can think of, possible.
