Dirty South & Thomas Gold ft. Kate Elsworth – Alive (Tits&Clits)
Alex Kindynis (born October 1994) is the name of the boy behind the artist name Eloji. He`s only 17 years old and already an MC coming from Melbourne, Australia. Eloji is an underrated artist, who deserves having more listeners! With lyrics about life, love and dreams, this boy knows how to express himself threw his lyrics, not only that – he also shows us that you should stay positive in life.
Alex has had a turbulent life, at the age of 2 he was diagnosed with cancer. At the age of 12, his mother was given the same condition. His father couldn’t deal with it, so he left them. When he was 14, he was hit by a car and was told he could never walk again.
His song about this part of his life; Eloji – Don`t Cry
He started as Arks for about 4 years ago, but then found out there was a respected Dj Arks in the Aussie hip hop scene. So he recently changed his artist name to Eloji, reborn as a better MC. The word Eloji is a change of the word Elegy, which is meaning a sad song usually sang at funerals like a lament. It was the death of Arks, so he thought “bring on the Eloji”!
He finds it cliché, but Alex was inspirited of his first hip hop record which was Eminem`s 8 Mile. He got excited of the quick lyrics and found the flows incredible. He began to indulge further into what hip hop really was. He studied the music, went and saw live gigs and was a fan of the music.
“One day I was at a Hilltop Hoods gig, in Melbourne, and Suffa MC came up to me as he saw my ‘Obese Records’ hoodie. He told me to always represent the family and stay true. He and Pressure then proceeded to get the crowd jumping like never before. I thought at that moment, I want to give that feeling to people. The feeling of pure excitement, passion and love for the music.” He started his music through just freestyling at parties. He became infamous to always dropping something and starting a cipher wherever he was. The freestyles turned into workshops, workshops turned into songs and it took off from there!
His goal is to connect with his stories, whether it`s about life, love or just having a good time. He wants people to think, “I know this feeling, I`ve been there.” Eloji connected to the songs from his favorite artists, he understood and respected their lyrics. That’s one of the reasons why he started writing lyrics. “Being a kid, people expect you to talk about stupid shit. But I`m a lining kind of guy and I only see the good in all adversities.”
Arks – Losing My Balance
When he was 13 (in 2008), Arks became part of the local Prahran hip hop duo `Skriptkillers’ along with Deafs and part-time producer Daze, together they released the mixtape `How to React’. When he was 14 (in 2009), he released his first solo EP `The Dead Poets EP’. An EP based on his recent event in his life, with quotes & parts of the famous Robin Williams Movie “The Dead Poets Society”. At the age of 15, `Turning Dreams Into Reality’ was released. When he was 16, he released ‘What’s copywrite?’ and at the age of 17, Eloji released his next EP professionally, titled `Causing Conversation’.
At the age of 17, Alex Kindynis has written over 150 songs and published about 80 of them. He has made 4 mixtapes, 2 EP`s and collaborations. At the moment he is not signed up with a record label.
I must say, I think Eloji with all this music & lyrics, having props from hip hop artists such as 360, he most definitely will have a bright future as an artist!

INTERVIEW WITH ELOJI
-In one of your latest tracks Eloji – Don’t Cry, you sing about cancer. Is this from a personal experience or someone you know?
“It`s a personal experience and the story is completely true. I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin`s Lymphoma when I was 2 years old. I mention that my grandfather and mother also had the same cancer I had and that my father left my mother at the time she was diagnosed. I then talk about my encounter in a car accident. I broke my neck and was told I wouldn’t walk again. Yet even then I saw the silver lining and found hope and rehabilitated myself.
-You began pretty early, can you tell about how your style has developed the last years?
“I did. Unlike most people I never rapped with an American accent. I always kept to my roots. However, like a child would, I talked absolute crap. I spoke about drugs and fights, but soon realized that wasn’t me. Australian hip hop is story telling. 95 % of the music is about real life problems and relevant things, not guns, cars and hoes.
My style has developed immensely from a shitty flow and one syllable rhymes, to being on point and changing it up. It`s funny listening to myself recording on computer mics in 2008 on garage band, to shitty loops, to now buying beats and ‘trying’ to be professional.
-Where do you see yourself in some years? What is your goal?
“The goal is to live the dream, play gigs, study and create music that people want to listen to. I’ll be honest, I do not want anything else, after seeing my father work a desk job my whole life, I only want to spit rhymes and make people bounce. “
-Can you tell a little bit about your background?
“I was born and raised in Melbourne Australian, with a Greek father and an Australian mother. Diagnosed with cancer, I then was angry at the world most of my life. Then my parents divorced and my mother was diagnosed when I was 12. To escape, I drank and smoked a lot. When I was 14, I was hit by a car and I was lucky to be alive. Now instead of being angry, I feel blessed. I feel incredibly lucky that someone somewhere is looking after me.”
-“Turning Dreams into Reality”, where did you get the idea for the album title? For myself, I believe dreams are the first step to reality, so keep on dreaming and all your dreams will come true!
“I first wrote the line “Turning Dreams into Reality” one day bored. The life we live is seaming like a fantasy, but I’ll stay true and turn my dreams into reality. I’ve always been a big dreamer, maybe too big but the sky`s the limit!”
The song “Wings”, Arks ft. Ryan Lewis is an example of dreaming about making dreams into reality. Follow your dreams, don`t listen to the people who say you`ll never make it!
Arks x Ryan Lewis – Wings (Learn to Fly part 2)
-Do you have any tips for other people who want to start being an artist?
“Practice, lots and lots of practice. Study the flow, the beat, the words and the content. Hustle, hustle hard and show everyone your music. When faced with haters (trust me, you will) treat them like a mate, say; “Ok, you’re entitled to your opinion and thank you”. That pisses them off more and its funny watching the jealous suffer. “
-Is there something you`d like to add to your listeners?
Thank you, to everyone. I know I say it a lot, but without the fans you are nothing. They make me who I am as a person.
