This campaign is to aid in disaster relief efforts in the Commonwealth of Dominica due to Tropical Storm Erika slamming Dominica with torrential rains causing unprecedented floods on the Nature isle on August 27th, 2015.  A Measured 12.64 inches of rain fell in a 12-hour period from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Our goal is to provide immediate relief of food, clothing, and rebuilding efforts. Flooding has affected all 10 parishes on the island. It has been reported that four fatalities have been confirmed to date; we offer our condolences to their families and pray that this number doesn’t rise. It’s no surprise that the flood victims are faced with the daunting task of rebuilding their lives, and reclaiming their livelihoods. We are in solidarity with you all! Tropical storm Erika caused several deaths; triggered unrelenting rain, widespread flash floods and landslides destroying thousands of homes, schools, bridges, farms and roads.  Access to food appears extremely difficult in many areas, limited drinking water and little shelter. Substantial parts of villages such as Petite Savanne and Good Hope have been affected by landslides.  Hopes have been swept away, some with their occupants.  Even the capital Roseau did not escape the damage.  The Roseau River flooded its banks and destroyed property and infrastructure.  Farmers have lost their crops and livestock. Families in the affected villages are now facing the daunting task of rebuilding.  We are committed to assist them.  There are enough of us who, together, can collect our small contribution and make a significant difference.  Families, children and animals who have survived now have nowhere to go. They are being surrounded by fast moving water, mud and unstable soil conditions.   Bridges have been  destroyed and roads are still submerged and generally unpassable.  The lack of communication and emergency transportation have isolated families from food, clean water and shelter. Many areas are still completely cut off by high waters or damaged roads. Massive Help is required to get to devastated areas, dig out homes and to reach those in need. We extend our hand in support with the local aid groups and NGO’s currently helping at those affected areas through the diaspora. We ask you to join us and contribute to alleviate the pain of our brothers, sisters and children. What We Need

Relief ItemsWe need a range of relief items, including comfort kits with hygiene items like toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, body lotion, flashlights, batteries, trash bags, cold-weather essentials (gloves, blankets, hand-warmers) and shovels.

Canned meats, fish, chicken, beef or deviled ham. Canned  vegetables, fruits , soup can make a stand-alone meal. 70,000 gallons of bottled water. Pasta, oatmeal and rice, boxed mixes of soup, pasta and rice, ready-to-eat dry foods such as breakfast cereals.

  • Renting of helicopters for the delivery of disaster relief items to those victims which are now inaccessible by land due to road damage, the collapse of bridges, and  landslides. 
  • 4X4 Pick up trucks to help deliver aid to remote areas (Military Hummers would be great) for assessing the condition in those areas in order to evacuate the injured 
  • Engineers to inspect safety of buildings and roads to prior to citizens returning to disaster areas
