Deja Vu FM would like to join with house music fans all over the world to express our sadness at the loss of vocalist Darryl Pandy.
An originator in the Chicago house scene, Darryl achieved worldwide success and fame in 1986 with his powerful vocal on Farley Jackmaster Funk’s ‘Love Can’t Turn Around’. The single shot straight to the top of the pop charts in the US, the UK and all over Europe and its success earned Darryl the coveted BPI Award for dance music.
Farley Jackmaster Funk said of his friend “Darryl Pandy has went home to the Lord to sing in God’s heavenly choir. I love you Darryl as I have told you over & over again…Love Can’t Turn Around no matter what…God bless you in Jesus Christ Holy name…”
If you are out dancing to a vocal house tune this weekend, take time to remember where it all started…

He will always be mostly remembered for ‘Love Can’t Turn Around’ but that tune didn’t truly demonstrate his great vocal range. Check out the final note on ‘Animal Magnetism’ Wow!
In the present day we have great male vocalists on the house scene such as Kenny Bobien, Marc Evans, Michael Watford and Billy Love. Darryl Pandy showed them the way.
RIP
