It is with deep sorrow and regret we announce the loss of our much respected family member Joseph Kendrick aka DJ Joe Grime.

It was just two weeks ago on the 17th October alongside Joe’s family and friends we celebrated life with him, by organising a Dinner and Dance Fundraiser, taking time to show our love and appreciation for his genuine personality and positive attitude in the face of such a terrible illness that had left him terminally ill.

We at Deja Vu fm had known for sometime about Joe’s illness and when he was finally diagnosed with Angiosarcoma of the heart, as well as cancer on the lungs, adrenal gland and spine in June of this year it was still such a shock that someone so young, kind, supportive of others and a true family man had been dealt these cards. As Joe himself put it, he was about enjoying life and making the most of what you have, staying focused and positive.

At the  fundraiser event Joe got to play the best set of his young life and was truly on fire that night, his wishes were to release this set as a CD with all monies made from donations being given to the amazing MacMillan charity & UCLH staff that had provided so much support with his illness. This is something Deja Vu fm will honour.

The fundraiser event held at the Tereza Joanne boat in East London not only provided so many memories and proud moments, not only did the event sell out in less than one week, the night itself also raised ten thousand pounds in just a few hours via auctions, raffles and kind donations. This amount was then matched by Galliard Homes.  The intention was for Joe to take his wonderful wife Rochelle and 2 beautiful children Tyler and Soray on a memorable holiday. Although booked the holiday was not to be,  as on the morning of 4th November we had learned that the terrible disease had spread again and we had finally lost our beloved Joe.

At Deja vu fm, we will continue to keep his legacy going and his wishes to keep positive and make the most our of  lives. This is our key mission.

Our thoughts go out to the whole of the Kendrick family and friends that knew Joe well.
