More than ever before, in today’s world, music fans have seemingly unlimited access to their favourite artists and songs. Not only are there virtually endless ways to find new music and download what you like, but now you can even enjoy opportunities to interact with your favourite artists through social media and other online tools. However, though all of these developments make it easy and fun to keep track of what you already like, it’s also now important for music fans to keep tabs on what’s new, as there are great new artists emerging and albums coming out just about every week. With that in mind, here are some of the most exciting recent album releases in Hip-Hop over the last couple of weeks.
• Wild Ones, Flo Rida – Continuing his efforts to mix hip-hop and a pop-style dancing music atmosphere, Flo Rida has put out a new album that’s essentially more of the same, and this is just fine with his fans. Featuring the smash hit songs “Wild Ones” and “Good Feeling,” this album is short and sweet, and undeniably fun and catchy. Fans will say you could go out for the night and hear nothing but songs from Wild Ones and consider it a great musical night at the club.
• Up & Away, Kid Ink – If you’re looking for something a bit more traditional, with less pop influence, Up & Away is a great album to consider. Released in late June, it has had an immediately positive response for both fans of Kid Ink and fans of hip-hop in general. It’s particularly refreshing in that it is an almost entirely solo effort, whereas the majority of hip-hop albums these days either come from groups or involve collaborations on many of their songs.
• Self Made 2, MMG – On the other hand, if collaborations are what you’re looking for, you may want to check out one of the most thoroughly collaborative albums in recent memory. The group MMG features a cast of powerful hip-hop names including Meek Mill, Stalley, Wale, Gunplay, Rick Ross, and now even Omarion, which means that the album has a good bit of natural variety. From hard-hitting songs like “Power Circle” to slower and more emotional options like “M.I.A.” this album has a little bit of everything, including some of your favourite names in hip-hop.
