Anyone who follows dancehall music will be aware of the continued controversy surrounding Vybz Kartel’s skin colour. He recently addressed an audience at UWI (University of West Indies) on The topic – ‘Pretty Like a Colouring Book: My Life and My Art‘ and late on saturday night he issued the following statements on twitter:

@iamthekartel

“I Adidja Palmer am stating to the public that I will no longer entertain interviews or discussions about my skin tone. (cont)

I’ve spoken about it, answered questions, etc…it is my personal decision and it is my perogative (cont)

I am a phenomenal entertainer and entreprenuer and as such there are too many facets for the main topic to be about my skin (cont)

Enough already…circus dun!”

You can view the videos below (via dancehall.mobi) and there interesting and entertaining (even if the audience seem to forget they are at Uni Lecture rather than a stage show) but following the statements he issued above will this be the last we hear on the subject? I personally respect his decision to draw a line under the this as he is a “phenomenal entertainer” but you have to ask will he now stop Djing on the subect? Some how I doubt it.
