Chris Jay

Chris Jay is a DJ, Presenter, Podcaster, Record Collector and the founder of the Sour Mash Collective.

His first forays into the world of DJing was via house parties whilst still at school and he quickly established himself as a selector of choice not just because of his growing record collection but also due to being “in tune” with the party vibe. Since then he has been fortunate to have interviewed, hung out and made friends with many of his musical heroes during the last 35+ years of spinning via his previous radio shows and club and event appearances throughout the UK as well as being one of the Original DJs on The Boating Club cruises which has recently celebrated its 25th year of events.

As a DJ, he continually seeks to bring a freshness and uniqueness to each and every set that he plays and with so much fruit to pick from the musical tree, the challenge is how much music he can fit within each set!

If you were to break down his love of SOUL music, then the categories would lean towards 80’s Funk and Boogie, Jazz Fusion, Acid Jazz, Hip-Hop and absolutely anything by Earth, Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan, The Jacksons, Anderson.Paak, Moonchild and Otis Redding. There is of course, a lot of other music in between.
